Since 1820, the Pilgrim Society and Pilgrim Hall Museum has shared the story of the Mayflower Pilgrims as they arrived in a new land – eager to create new lives for themselves and their children, not knowing whether their efforts would succeed or fail.

We particularly remember them at Thanksgiving time, that uniquely American remembrance of the difficulties faced by Plymouth’s early settlers and their gratitude for survival, the encounters with the Wampanoag people, and the 1621 harvest event when two cultures sat down together in company. We share that tradition with our visitors, but we also invite deeper explorations of the iconic Pilgrim Story, First Thanksgiving, and legendary Plymouth Rock. Through innovative exhibitions and programs, and an extraordinary original collection, we invite learners of all ages to encounter the real people and events of colonial Plymouth that inspired an enduring narrative of America’s founding.
